Algeria

PROJECT country - Algeria became an EIFL project country in 2010 through support from the three-year EC Tempus Programme funded project: Optimizing access to scientifc and technical information at Magreb universities (IsteMag).  This project recognizes the central role that university libraries, as providers of scientific and technical information, play in the dissemination of scientific research results to faculty, researchers and businesses.

EIFL is among the partner institutions that will collaborate on this exciting endeavor.  Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is the lead institution, along with eleven Maghreb universities (in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia) and two European universities (in Romania and France).

As part of the project, librarians from nine Algerian institutions received training on consortium management and e-resource negotiating and licensing skills (read about the training) and will receive training in open access from EIFL.
