eIFL - Open Access
eIFL-OAOpen Access is free online availability of research literature. For the developing world, Open Access will increase scientists and academics capacity to both access and contribute to the global research community. eIFL-OA seeks to enhance access to research thereby accelerating innovation and economical development in the countries participating in eIFL network. To achieve this, we advocate for the best practices of Open Access as defined by the Budapest Open Access Initiative. The eIFL-OA Program · Builds a global network of Open repositories and Open Access journals; · Provides training and advice on Open Access policies and practices; · Empowers library professionals, scientists and scholars, educators and students to become open access advocates. eIFL.net has created a federated repository for 100+ open repositories from developing and transition countries. It helped to raise awareness on the importance of standards, adding of full text within repositories and training, as well as motivation to countries to set up repositories (encourage competition). All these led to higher visibility of scholarly publications, international co-operation and community building.
