EIFL to take part in ETD 2016 ‘Data and Dissertations’ Symposium

Two EIFL Open Access Programme team members will take part in meetings and events at ETD 2016: ‘Data and Dissertations’: 19th International Symposium on Electronic Theses and Dissertations.

The symposium will be hosted by the Humanities and Social Sciences University of Lille, and has been co-organized with the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD), an international organization dedicated to promoting the adoption, creation, use, dissemination, and preservation of electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs).

The theme of the symposium is ‘Data and Dissertations’, with a focus on the handling of research data produced by PhD students.

EIFL will take part in the following meetings and events:

  • On 10 July, EIFL Open Access (OA) Programme manager, Iryna Kuchma, will participate in the NDLTD Board of Directors meeting.
  • On 11 July, Kuchma and EIFL OA Programme coordinator, Gwen Franck, together with Inge Van Nieuwerburgh, Ghent University (Belgium), and Ana Pavani, Pontificate Catholic University (Brazil), will co-organize a pre-conference introductory workshop titled: ‘Research Data Management and ETDs’. The workshop will cover the following topics: why manage data; research data management in Horizon 2020; how to manage and share research data according to the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable); how to write data management plans; how to deposit and publish data; which resources the EUDAT and OpenAIRE projects provide; research data management and ETDs.
  • On 12 July, Kuchma will chair the conference sessions on ETD national policies and on new approaches and projects.
