People everywhere need information - to improve their health, to find jobs, to increase their livelihoods, to support their studies, and much more. The internet has transformed how we seek and share information, yet billions of people living in developing and transition economy countries still do not have access to the internet. Public libraries - trusted institutions, staffed by skilled information professionals - are uniquely placed to overcome this challenge by providing public access to information and communication technology (ICT) and training people to use it.

EIFL does remarkable work that is making a difference to libraries and the people we serve. At Global Libraries we had an idea for an innovation and replication grant focused on information technology. We asked EIFL to be our grantee; within a brief time they took the idea and turned it to gold! The idea has come to life and the results are incredible.
