EIFL will organize an online information session with EIFL’s partner, the Malawi Library and Information Consortium (MALICO), on copyright, libraries and access to knowledge. The topics will include the basics, such as the purpose of copyright and how it affects library activities, what libraries in Malawi can do under the Copyright Act (2016), and how Nigeria’s new copyright law might serve as an inspiration for future copyright reform. The Copyright Society of Malawi will provide an update on the status of the Copyright Act, as well as implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty for persons with print disabilities in Malawi and public lending right, introduced in the 2016 act.

The online information session is open to members of MALICO.

  • Date and time: Wednesday, 3 July 2024 at 10am CAT.
