EIFL and the Zambia Library Service (ZLS) have organized an online workshop to build the capacity of public library staff in Zambia to deliver digital literacy training in their communities and to promote the meaningful use of ICT devices (laptops, tablets, mobile phones) and mobile internet for educational purposes.

The workshop follows a donation by Airtel Zambia of 26 mobile internet routers and two-month unlimited data packages to public libraries in Zambia as a result of the joint advocacy efforts of EIFL and the Zambia Library Service (ZLS).  The aim of the workshop is to ensure that these resources are used effectively to develop digital skills in communities.

A presentation by Ugne Lipeikaitė, Manager of the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP), will include a selection of open educational resources (OERs) and guidance on how these resources can be used in community training. Guest speakers from other countries in Africa will share their experiences of using the OERs in training with diverse groups of learners.
