EIFL has signed a three-year agreement with Éclat Engineering, a software solutions and services company based in India. The agreement covers two products: RemoteXs and MyLOFT.

RemoteXs is a cloud-based service that helps academics, researchers and students to find and use e-resources licensed by the library or library consortium, as well as open access e-resources. It provides a web-portal that allows users, after login to the RemoteXs portal, to access open and subscribed e-resources via a direct link, without the need to enter additional usernames and passwords. Access works remotely 24/7, allowing users to access e-content at anytime and from any place.

Libraries can customize their RemoteXs portal to present their e-resources in ways that are most useful for their users, for example by subject, type, or A-Z. RemoteXs can be used on different devices, including tablets and smartphones. The RemoteXs administrator dashboard allows librarians to control access rights, and provides access to detailed usage statistics.

Another advantage of RemoteXs is that it issues fixed IP addresses to its library customers. This is a particular advantage for small institutions that do not have a fixed IP address and can therefore not obtain access to e-resources. The system also provides automated back-up, and a variety of support options, such as a live chat helpline.

MyLOFT (My Library on Fingertips) is an app that allows users to access, organize and share content, and download and save items for offline reading.

Users can access e-resources subscribed by their library, as well as open access e-resources or other website content such as blogs. The MyLOFT app allows users to follow RSS, enabling them to receive the latest content from their favourite websites.

Content can be tagged for easy offline reading and organized into folders. In addition, text can be highlighted and tagged with notes or summaries that can be shared. The app also allows users to play video and listen to audio.

The agreement runs until December 2020 and is open to institutions and consortia in the following 39 EIFL partner countries:

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Cambodia, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Estonia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, Ghana, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Lesotho, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malawi, Maldives, Moldova, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Palestine, Poland, Senegal, Serbia, Slovenia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Zambia, Zimbabwe
