In this video (6 min 54 sec) Ugne Lipeikaite, EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) Impact Manager, explores the three key roles of an effective library trainer — Instructor, Facilitator, and Coach — and how each contributes to successful training. Through explanations of the main functions of each role, and use of real-life examples from EIFL’s capacity-building programme for public library managers and ICT coordinators in Ghana, the video illustrates how:

  • An Instructor shares knowledge, explains topics clearly, and keeps sessions structured;
  • A Facilitator encourages participation, guides group activities, and helps learners learn from one another;
  • A Coach provides personalized feedback, supports individual progress, and inspires reflection and goal-setting.

Together, these roles help trainers create engaging, supportive, and empowering learning experiences in public libraries.
