Recording (73 min 41 sec) of an informal online discussion - a ‘Virtual Break’ - hosted by the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) on the topic ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Public Libraries'. Discussion focused on practical training experiences and resources to help public librarians enhance their AI literacy and educate their communities about this technology.
Prince Osei-Gyamfi, IT Coordinator at the Central Regional Library, Ghana Library Authority, talked about the training he delivered to fellow librarians to foster adoption and use of AI tools in daily work. See presentation (PDF).
Ugnė Lipeikaitė, Impact Manager at EIFL-PLIP, delivered a training demonstration of the training resource: Smart Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The resource (Powerpoint Presentation with notes for trainers) has been adapted by EIFL to support public librarians in educating young people aged 12 to 15, but it can be customized for other audiences to provide them with basic AI knowledge. The resource covers what AI is, how it is experienced in everyday life, and how to use it safely, responsibly, and effectively. It also provides three practical activities that offer hands-on experience.
