Two public librarians, from Kenya and Uganda, will travel to Romania as part of the EIFL Initiative for Young African Library Innovators (IYALI), which aims to expose emerging public library innovators from African countries to public library experiences and ideas from other continents and countries. The two librarians are -

  • Kaltuma Sama - Head Librarian at the Buruburu branch of the Kenya National Library Service
  • Peter Balaba - Head Librarian and Manager at Nakaseke Public Library in Uganda

Working with  partners in Romania, EIFL has developed a learning programme for IYALI 2022 that includes knowledge sharing meetings with five libraries, in Brașov, Vâlcea and  Dâmbovița Counties (30 May–1 June). The librarians will also participate in the Occupy Library 2022 conference in Bucharest (2-3 June), and present spark talks about library services that address community needs.
